A Uniform

Black and White has been popular colors in Executive work place dressing for many years. You may call this style a Uniform. For a job interview you cannot go wrong with a black suit and a white shirt. So, Are black and white colors? Ask a scientist and you'll get a reply based on physics: “Black is not a color, white is a color.” Ask an artist or a child with crayons and you'll get another: “Black is a color, white is not a color.” Or is it?  According to Encyclopedia Britannica . . "Color, in terms of pigment, is every shade and hue found in a brand new box of crayons (and any combination you could make from them). To put it in scientific terms, however, color is simply the range of visible light that humans can see".   I love a good fitting pair of black pants and they go with every color in my crayon box. Both the pants & top in this look have been sitting in my closet waiting to be worn.

Different cultures have colors that are symbolic all over the world. White is the traditional color for a bride's wedding gown in the U.S. and most European cultures. White symbolizes purity and innocence. But, in Asia, white is the color of death. This arises from the belief that death is seen as a beginning and that white represents the purity that the deceased brings into the next life. Therefore, brides in Japan and China wear red in traditional wedding ceremonies. White is also associated with death in India, where widows wear white.

Black symbolizes death and is the traditional color of mourning in Western cultures. Black clothing is associated with powerful forces in many parts of the world. Bad and good. Witches, the devil, ninjas, cat burglars, Darth Vader, CatWoman, and Batman wear black. . and so do Priests, Nuns, Judges, Mimes, Mennonites, Bedouins, and Monks. Yet, the Little Black Dress is a must have in every woman's closet. If you want to look slim wear black is what I've been told for years, and there's plenty black garments to choose from in the stores.
